During the period January 1998 to June 2001 cerambycid beetles, which could cause problems to trees growth or wood quality, were surveyed through systematic detections on three sites located in Lavalleja (Minas), Paysandú y Rivera. To follow this objective, since January 1998 to April 2000, E. globulus Labillardière ssp. globulus Kirk. trap trees were installed in the first site and Eucalyptus grandis W. Hill ex Maiden trap trees, were established in the other two sites. After those trap trees remained 15 days on the ground, under the canopy, they were cut and logs were kept in cages located in the stand. These cages were inspected fortnightly
and caught beetles were fixed and identified. National and foreign bibliography related to geographic distribution and hosts of each insect, was revised. Native and introduced cerambycid species were collected. Paramallocera
hirta (Kirby), Compsoceridius gounellei Bruch and Thelgetra latipennis Thomson, parasited both Eucalyptus species. E. globulus was also parasited by Eurymerus eburioides Audinet-Serville, Erosida gratiosa (Blanchard), Unxia gracilior Burmeister, Neoclytus curvatus (Germar), Chydarteres striatus Fabricius, Retrachydes thoracicus (Olivier) and Acanthoderes jaspidea (Germar). The introduced species Phoracantha recurva Newman and
Phoracantha semipunctata (Fabricius), were found attacking both essayed Eucalyptus species.
